NOLTON ‘TURTLE’ SITTIG III

WASHINGTON - Funeral services were held for Nolton “Turtle” Sittig III, 31, of Krotz Springs, at St. Landry Catholic Church at 11 a.m., Saturday, February 14. Burial followed in the Cedar Hill Cemetery in Washington.

A native of Lafayette, Mr. Sittig died Wednesday, February 11, 2009, in Concordia Parish. He grew up in Chataignier as a child. During his young adulthood, he lived in Cameron and was a 1996 graduate of South Cameron High School. While attending South Cameron High School, he was involved with numerous sports and was the manager of the football team and helped with the high school rodeos.

He lived his life to the fullest. He was well known by everyone and was an outgoing person full of compassion, love and helpfulness. He enjoyed being outdoors hunting and fishing with his family and friends. He was a huge sports fan and especially loved Nascar, Dale Earnhart Jr. and the New Orleans Saints. He will be sadly missed by family and friends.

Survivors include his mother, Patricia LaCoste Sittig of Krotz Springs; his step-father, Curtis Lalonde of Krotz Springs; one brother, Arthur Victor Sittig of Erath; one step-brother, Gregory “Greg” Lalonde and his wife, Rebecca, of Krotz Springs; two sisters, Danna DeVille and her husband, John, of Mamou and Elizabeth “Liz” Deville and her husband, Johnny, of Bayou Chicot; one step-sister, Marcie Taylor of Arnaudville; 14 nieces and nephews; three godchildren, Nichelle Sittig, Annabelle Pugh and Brannon Shawn DeVille; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, friends and neighbors.

He was preceded in death by his father, Nolton Sittig Jr.; his maternal grandparents, Batron LaCoste and Elizabeth Florence Giroir LaCoste; and his paternal grandparents, Nolton Sittig Sr. and Josephine Fisher Sittig.

Pall bearers were Arthur Sittig, Greg Lalonde, Michael LaCoste, Charles Pugh Jr., Cade Sittig and Johnathon Sittig. Honorary pall bearers were Brad Dupre, Gabrieal LaCoste and Scott Sittig.

Msgr. Robert Romero officiated.

NASEN JOSEPH FONTENOT SR.

October 4, 1922 - February 7, 2009

Funeral services were held for Nasen Joseph Fontenot Sr., 86, of Ville Platte, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Ville Platte at 1 p.m., Monday, February 9. Burial followed in the Evangeline Memorial Park Mausoleum.

A loving husband, father, grandfather and brother, Mr. Fontenot died Saturday, February 7, 2009, at Savoy Medical Center in Mamou.

Survivors include his wife, Tonnie Belle Lafleur Fontenot of Ville Platte; two sons, Nasen Fontenot Jr. and his wife, Brenda, of Ville Platte and John Wayne Fontenot and his wife, Deeya, of Lafayette; one sister, Marjorie Shurban of Rockford, Illinois; and two grandchildren, Benjamin Paul Fontenot and Jared Wesley Fontenot.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Chester and Corine Fontenot.

LILLIE MAE FONTENOT

December 21, 1926 - February 7, 2009

Funeral services were held for Lillie Mae Fontenot, 82, of Ville Platte, at Our Lady Queen of All Saints Catholic Church in Ville Platte at 2 p.m., Monday, February 9. Burial followed in the Tee Mamou Cemetery.

A loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Ms. Fontenot died Saturday, February 7, 2009, at Ville Platte Medical Center.

Survivors include two sons, James Patrick Fontenot and his wife, Sandra, and James Wilbur Thompson and his wife, Anna, all of Ville Platte; one daughter, Cathy Arnold and her husband, James, of Ville Platte; eight grandchildren, Jeremy Patrick Fontenot, Jessica Soileau, Kirk and Marcus Vidrine, James Wilbur Thompson, Jordan Ortego, Katie Thompson, and Jennifer Acosta; and four great-grandchildren.

SADIE POUSSON LEJEUNE

November 28, 1941 - February 13, 2009

BASILE - Funeral services were held for Sadie Pousson LeJeune, 67, of Basile, at St. Augustine Catholic Church in Basile at 1 p.m., Saturday, February 14. Burial followed in the church cemetery.

Mrs. LeJeune died Friday, February 13, 2009, at Louisiana Extended Care Hospital in Lafayette. She leaves behind a legacy of family and friends who loved her and will miss her.

Survivors include her loving husband, Marcus “Stooge” LeJeune of Basile; her mother, Verna Mae Pousson of Basile; two sons, Darrel LeJeune of Basile and Brandon LeJeune of Lafayette; two daughters, Cynthia “Sis” Smith and her husband, Phillip, of Basile and Rhonda Bellard and her husband, Aurdie, of Eunice; four brothers, Allen Pousson Jr. of Mamou, James “Jimbo” Pousson of Lake Charles, Johnny Pousson of Basile and Raymond Pousson of Lacassine; eight grandchildren, Tiffany Roy, Amber Hayes, Ryan Smith, Blaine Smith, Blaise, Adrienne, Amelia and John Bradley Bellard; and five great-grandchildren, Madison and Kailey Roy, Mason Smith, Samanatha Hayes and Kye Smith.

She was preceded in death by one son, Donald Paul “Don Don” LeJeune; and her father, Allen Pousson Sr.

ETHELIE TATE FUSELIER FRUGE

December 29, 1923 - February 13, 2009

EUNICE - Funeral services were held for Ethelie Tate Fusilier Fruge, 89, of Eunice, at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Eunice at 10 a.m., Saturday, February 14. Burial followed in the Mt. Calvary Cemetery.

A native of Mamou, Ms. Fusilier died Friday, February 13, 2009, at Acadian Medical Center in Eunice. She always had a smile on her face and loved her grandchildren. She will also be remembered as one who liked being around people and just enjoyed life. She was an avid musician who enjoyed playing Cajun French music and was recently honored for her talents by being inducted into the Cajun Music Hall of Fame.

Survivors include two sons, Winston Fuselier and his wife, Carole Ann, of Eunice, and Roderick Fuselier and his wife, Ceil, of Lafayette; one step-son, Marcus Fruge of Mamou; one step-daughter, Marcella Pate of Fort Worth, Texas; one sister, Rita Anne Tate LeDoux and her husband, Albert, of Broussard; 10 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by one daughter, Verona Fuselier; her parents, Hosea and Lovina Guillory Tate; two brothers, Paul Tate and Donald Tate; and one sister Hazel Fuselier.

August 2, 1925 - February 12, 2009

Funeral services will be held for Olympia Edwards, 83, of Ville Platte, at Greater Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church in Ville Platte at 7 p.m., Monday, February 16. Burial will follow in the St. John Memorial Gardens Cemetery.

GRETA BACON FONTENOT

April 24, 1924 - February 13, 2009

Funeral services were held for Greta Bacon Fontenot, 84, of Ville Platte, at Sacred Heart Church in Ville Platte at 11 a.m., Saturday, February 14. Burial followed in the Evangeline Memorial Cemetery.

Ms. Fontenot died at 11:15 a.m., Friday, February 13, 2009, at Acadian Medical Center in Eunice. She was a past member of the Catholic Daughters, a member of the Come Lord Jesus group and Eucharistic Minister.

Survivors include many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Paul and Beatrice Deshotels Bacon; and three brothers, Ethan Bacon, Fulton “Red” Bacon and Dervin Bacon.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association 3717 Goverment St., Suite 7, Alexandria, La. 71302, or the Sacred Heart School Foundation 708 East Main St., Ville Platte, La. 70586.
