Margaret leaves to cherish her memory, her daughter, Barbara English and her husband Ron of Lafayette; one son, Ed Baudoin, Jr. and his wife Charlotte of Maurice; and her grandchildren, Van and Victoria English and Nicole Hoffman. She is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews and friends.
Margaret was preceded in death by Edmund Joseph Baudoin, Sr. (T-Man), her beloved husband of 60 years; by her parents; two sisters, Therese Abel, and Helen Burdin and her husband Dr. John Joseph Burdin; four brothers, Dr. Martin Broussard, Lastie Odelon Broussard, Pierre Otis Broussard Jr. and his wife Rena, and Ed Broussard.
Born in Abbeville, Louisiana on December 2, 1928 to Katherine Peters Broussard and Pierre Otis Broussard, Sr. She grew up in Abbeville and was one of seven children. Margaret was the treasured baby sister and attended Mount Carmel School in Abbeville. Her mother Katherine meticulously hand stitched garments for the Sisters of Mount Carmel in exchange for the children’s yearly tuition.
Margaret attended the University of Southwestern Louisiana, formerly Southwest Louisiana Institute, and received her degree in Lower Elementary Education. After graduation, she taught in Henry, Louisiana, and settled in Lafayette after meeting the love of her life, Ed Baudoin, Sr. (T-Man). Margaret and Ed were married in 1942 and soon after started their family rearing a son and a daughter. Margaret believed her most important role in life was to be a loving, caring, devoted mother and wife.
To those who were fortunate enough to call Margaret a friend or a relative, we will remember the many ways she has touched our lives. She was a gracious lady, generous, and a positive presence when you needed a lift.
Based on mutual respect and a deep love for one another Margaret supported Ed and his business endeavors through traveling and entertaining. Friends always looked forward to her annual “Dove Suppers” where they enjoyed the fruits of a successful hunting season.
She was a lover of family, listener to the grieving, friend to the friendless. To know Dootsie is to love Dootsie.
Margaret worked hard to instill in her family her love of God and neighbor. She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church for 35 years, where she served as God’s housekeeper, and a member of the Ladies Altar Society. She devoted many years as a volunteer at Our Lady of Fatima School, where all welcomed her beautiful smile each day.
Margaret’s greatest love was to spend time with Ed at Bauson/Roseau Lodge in Pecan Island entertaining close friends and family. Here, she found peace in God’s gifts of nature.
Despite Margaret’s many health struggles she looked to her faith for encouragement, and she was an inspiration to us all. Margaret’s years were marked by a deep abiding faith that was infused into every part of her life since childhood. A well-worn Rosary was at her bedside; each and every day began and ended in prayer.
Her legacy of love, gratitude and kindness will live on forever in our lives. We will miss her human beauty, her moral compass and most importantly, experiencing the sunshine in her smile.
Pallbearers will be Van English, Ron English, Donald Broussard, Charles Sonnier, Ed Baudoin, Jr. and Bob Plonsky.
Honorary Pallbearers are Roland “Poly” Leblanc, John J. Burdin, Jr.(deceased), William Renaudin, Pete Broussard, Jim Leonard, Amos Simpson (deceased) and Leon Stelly, Jr. (deceased).
The family requests that visitation be observed in Martin & Castille’s SOUTHSIDE location on Thursday from 9:00 AM until time of service.
A Rosary will be prayed Thursday at 11:00 AM in Martin & Castille Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be sent to the J.J. Burdin Memorial Fund at the UL Foundation, 705 E. St. Mary, Lafayette, LA 70503 or to Hospice of Acadiana Foundation, 2600 Johnston Street, Suite 236, Lafayette, LA 70503.

Words cannot express our heartfelt gratitude to the angels who cared for our mother through many years of selfless help and support; Sherry Howerton, Dona Duhon, Cynthia Fontenot and Harriet Winters.
