Michael J. Stewart, age 56, of Murfreesboro, Tennessee, passed away August 26, 2010 at Middle Tennessee Medical Center. He was a member of St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church. Michael was a client at Rutherford County Adult Activity Center of Murfreesboro.

Michael was a native of Portsmouth, Na. ; lived much of his life in Abbeville, La. He was a client at Bares Center, Erath, La., for several years; but resided in Murfreesboro for the past 23 years.

He is survived by his brother, Marc Stewart of Lockport, La.; sister, Dawn Stewart Toups, nephew Bryce Toups; nieces Courtney Carr, Brittany Thomason- all of Murfreesboro, Tenn.; Chelsey and Katlyn Stewart of Lockport; and three great nieces of Murfreesboro. Also, sole survivor of eight maternal aunts and uncles is his godmother, Velta Theriot Hebert, Abbeville, La.

Michael was preceded in death by his parents, Jack Franklin Stewart and Lucille Benith Theriot Stewart his maternal grandparents, Nicaise and Anise Luquette Theriot.

Chapel services for Michael were held at 1:30 p.m. on Sunday, August 29, 2010 at Jennings and Ayers Chapel with Phillip Robinson officiating. Burial followed at Evergreen Cemetery with friends serving as active pallbearers.
