Abbeville man charged with attempted first degree murder for shooting in Intracoastal City
According to Vermilion Parish Sheriff Mike Couvillon, on Monday, at 10 p.m., the Vermilion Parish Sheriff’s Office responded to a shooting call on La. 333 near Intracoastal City .
Upon arrival, officers located a male subject, identified as Cuong Van Nguyen (date of birth 1-06-1969) whom was suffering from a gun-shot wound to the neck.
Nguyen stated that an unknown black male shot him in the neck and stole his wallet.
Nguyen was able to provide responding officers with a description of the suspect, a description of the vehicle, and a description of a black female and a white female that were passengers in the vehicle. Nguyen was transported to Our Lady of Lourdes hospital in Lafayette, for treatment of his injuries where he is currently in stable condition.
Sheriff Couvillon says that shortly following this incident, patrol officers located a vehicle on Rice Cove Road in Abbeville, matching the description given by Nguyen of the vehicle and occupants. After initiating a traffic stop, the shooter was identified as Anthony Williams (D.O.B. 06-20-1978) of 411 Apt.2 Kibbe St, Abbeville). Located in the vehicle by patrol officers along with Williams was Michelle Morris (D.O.B. 03-08-1983 of 411 of Kibbe St. Abbeville,La.) and Ms. Sandra Hargrave (W/F D.O.B. 05-10-1964 of 2800 Rodeo Rd. Apt. 802 Abbeville, La). During a search of the vehicle, officers located a FNH .25 caliber handgun.
Williams was arrested and booked into the Vermilion Parish Jail on the charge of Attempted 1st Degree Murder and illegal possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
Morris and Hargrave were arrested and booked into the Vermilion Parish Jail on the charge of Principle to Attempted 1st Degree murder and Possession Of Drug Paraphernalia .
No bond has been set at this time.
