Ryan Meaux loves the game of baseball
Most kids learn the game of baseball from either their parents or siblings, and for Ryan Meaux it is no different.
Meaux has been playing the game of baseball since he was a little kid trying to keep up with his older brothers, and now that he is and incoming senior at North Vermilion he can’t get enough.
“I have been wanting to play American Legion ball for a few years now,” Ryan Meaux said. “American Legion is a very good club, and it is something that I want to be a part of, and on top of that I get to play a little more baseball so it’s win-win.”
“It is great to be out here with my teammates from North vermilion,” Meaux said. “Also, it will keep me on my game. It gives me a chance to work on my pitching and hitting. Along with that most of the team is from North Vermilion and it helps us grow as a team because most of us will be playing next year.”
Despite finding success at both first base and the pitchers mound, Meaux would hands down rather be on the mound.
“I would rather be a pitcher,” Meaux said. “I love being on the mound, and that is something I would love to go to college for.”
Meaux hopes to attend college one day as a pitcher, but regardless if baseball is in the pitcher he wants to get his degree in physical therapy.
Not only is Meaux great on the field, but he is also a pleasure in the dugout.
“Ryan is a great kid,” 29’ers head coach Darin Desormeaux said. “He is the cheerleader of the dugout. Whether Ryan is in the game or out of the game he gives you everything he has. He is a very good kid, he is one of those kids that is most likely to succeed.”
The thing that keeps Meaux’s love for baseball going is his faith.
“God gave you two hands,” Meaux said. “One for praying and one for playing baseball.”
