Panthers get healthy, face Hornets

The Delcambre Panthers inch one game closer to district play when they host Catholic of Pointe Coupee Thursday.
The Panthers have suffered numerous injuries during the course of the young season, but expect to have some guys back including quarterback Zachary Trahan. The Panthers look to end a two-game losing streak, which includes losses to Lake Arthur and Elton.
“We are being cautious with our kids,” said head coach Darcy Delcambre. “We want to make sure they are ready to go when district play starts in a couple of weeks.”
In last week's 26-20 loss versus Elton, Cole Delcambre stepped in for the injured Trahan and ran the offense, going 4-11 for 38 yards. Starting running back Bubba Latiolais missed the game with an injury, and Zack Frederick filled in, rushing for 60 yards on 12 attempts and a touchdown.
The Hornets enter the game with a 1-2 record, fresh off of their first victory of the season in a 56-0 blowout of East Iberville.
Catholic of Pointe Coupee runs an offense similar to something Delcambre has seen rather recently according to coach Delcambre.
“They run the spread offense similar to what we saw versus Elton,” said Delcambre. “They are not as big and fast as Elton, but they are balanced on offense.”
Latiolais is questionable for the game, but coach Delcambre is confident in the guys that will dress.
“We feel comfortable with the guys we have, and having leadership on the field is a positive for us.”
