Hazel Suire Broussard

ERATH — A Mass of Christian burial for Mrs. Hazel Suire Broussard, 92, will be held at 10:00AM on Tuesday, February 3, 2015 at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church with father Bill Melancon officiating.
Interment will follow at Our Lady of Lourdes Mausoleum.
Visitation will be held at David Funeral Home of Erath on Monday, February 2, 2015 from 4:00PM until 9:00PM with a recitation of the rosary at 6:00PM. Visitation will resume on Tuesday, February 3, 2015 from 8:00AM until the time of the services.
Mrs. Hazel Broussard was born in Delcambre, LA on June 19, 1922 and passed away on Saturday, January 31, 2015 at Maison du Monde Nursing Home Facility. Upon marriage she was a parishioner of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church and an active member of Catholic Daughter of America. She also served as a homebound Eucharistic Minister.
She married Larson A. Broussard in 1941 and had five children. She was a very kind hearted woman who always provided for her family. She enjoyed sewing, cooking, caring for the sick and her beloved grandchildren, and working in her flower garden.
She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother.
She was greatly loved and will be missed by all who knew her.
She is survived by her four daughters, Bonnie B. and her husband Johnny Broussard of Henry, Cheryl B. and her husband Michael DesOrmeaux of Erath, Susan B. and her husband Chris Broussard of Maurice, and Patty B. and her husband Teddy Broussard of Lafayette; a sister, Genevieve S. Verret of New Iberia; fifteen grandchildren, Steve Broussard, Maria B. Le Gros, Michael Broussard, Michelle B. Woods, Julie B. Grisaffe, Amy DesOrmneaux, Matt DesOrmeaux, Anthony DesOrmeaux, Leah DesOrmeaux, Joel Broussard, Sarah Broussard, Abby Trahan, Laurie T. Lee, Beth Trahan, and Ana Trahan; Fifteen great grandchildren, three step great grandchildren, and three step great great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by husband, Larson A. Broussard; her parents, Ignace and Laurence Leblanc Suire, a son, Larson A. Broussard, Jr.; and two brothers, Abdon and Alvin Suire.
Serving as pallbearers will be Michael Broussard, Steve Broussard, Matt DesOrmeaux, Anthony DesOrmeaux, Joel Broussard, and Derek Lee.
Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Trevor LeGros and Tristen LeGros.
Mrs. Hazel’s family sends appreciation and special thanks to all the staff at Maison du Monde Living Center, Hospice of Acadiana, and Dr. Ronald Lahasky.
