Erath inducts three into Hall of Fame

ERATH- Three Erath alumni were inducted into the school’s Hall of Fame on Thursday night.
Josh Stutes, Dana Frederick and Calvin Vice were the honorees at the ceremony.
Josh Glynn Stutes was born in Lafayette, Louisiana on February 6, 1975 to Glynn and Tina Stutes. Josh is a graduate of Erath High School class of 1993.
During his high school career, Stutes participated in basketball, cross country and track. He lettered three years in basketball helping his team reach the playoffs his junior year. In his senior year, Stutes was selected to the All-District team.
Track and cross country is where he left his mark at Erath. Between the two sports, Stoutes won six individual state titles and broke five school records while still holding the 1600 meter record today.
He lettered four years in cross country, and helped his team garner state runner-up honors two consecutive years. He earned All-Acadiana his junior year and All-Acadiana MVP his senior year. Stoutes won the individual Cross Country State Champion award.
He lettered four years in track as well, and was voted outstanding trackman at each meet he participated in his junior and senior year.In his junior year, he won the State Championship in the 1600 and 3200 meter events.
In his senior year, he was chosen as the Daily Advertiser Track Athlete of the Year, and he won State Championship in the 800, 1600 and 3200 meter events.
Josh is married to his wife Suzette of 13 years and they have three children: Rilee, Owen and Andrew.

Dana Mouton Frederick
Dana Mouton Frederick was born on December 8, 1974 to Michael and Connie Mouton. Dana attended Erath High School where she graduated in 1993.
In high school, Frederick lettered all four years in track and basketball. During her freshman basketball season she was selected to the All-District first team and All-Area second team. She averaged 13.4 points per game and helped her team reach the first round of the state playoffs.
During her sophomore year, she was selected to the All-District Honorable mention team. In her junior year,Frederick averaged 17 points per game and was selected to the All-Area, All-Parish and All-District teams and earned an honorable mention for the All Acadiana team.
In her senior year she was selected All District player of the year, All Parish player of the year and All Acadiana Dream Team player of the year. She was also recognized as the Daily Iberian player of the year and earned a spot on the All-State first team.
She averaged 18 points per game and helped her team finish the year with a 33-3 record overall, and a perfect 10-0 district mark for the first time in school history since 1958. The team earned a berth in the sweet 16 tournament.
Frederick signed a letter of intent at East Central Community College in Decatur, Mississippi where she played one year. In 2000, she was voted as one of Vermilion Parish’s top 100 athletes.
Dana is married to Andy Frederick and has three children: Ann Marie, Luke and Coy. She has been teaching for 12 years and is currently teaching Physical Education at Dozier Elementary.

Calvin Vice
Calvin Vice was born May 5, 1941 to the late Presley and Rita Hebert Vice of Erath. Calvin attended Erath High School from 1955 to 1959, and he played football under Coach Willie Lutgring from 1955-1957 as a center.
Vice graduated from Erath High in 1959, and he later attended McNeese State University in 1965 with a degree in education.
Vice began his teaching career at Landry High School in Lake Charles, before moving to Lafayette High. He returned to Erath, this time as an educator,in 1970.
As a teacher, he volunteered to collect at football games. In 1980, he was asked to assist in coaching the high school track team and the seventh and eighth grade girls track team.
In 1982, Vice assisted in coaching track, basketball and ninth grade football. Sometime around the late 80’s he began to “clerk” for the track meets. He helped run the meets until 2013.
Calvin married Mary Duhon in 1965. They have three children: Nanette V. Baudion, Donna Prejean and John Vice.
