Delcambre falls in season finale
It has been an up and down year for the Delcambre High School football team and Friday night was one of those downs.
Delcambre fell prey to Central Catholic of New Iberia by the final score of 56-14.
“We just couldn’t get anything going,” Delcambre Head Coach Darcy Delcambre said. “They (Central Catholic N.I.) were very aggressive on defense and their offense had so many weapons.”
Declambre only managed 132 yards of total offense, 120 of that coming on the ground.
Chevaun Walters led the ground game for Delcamber with 69 yards and a touchdown on only 10 carries.
Bubba Latiolais scored the other touchdown when he scooped up a fumble and returned it 35 yards.
This may have been a down for Delcambre but there is a bright side. There is still an outside shot they could make the playoffs.
“We were sitting in 31 last I saw,” Delcambre said. “Hopefully we will sit right there where we are and stay there.”
The final power rankings will be revealed late Sunday night.
