5K run/2 mile fun walk kicks off Omelette Festival

This year’s Giant Omelette Celebration is scheduled for November 5 and 6.
The annual 5K Run, timed by Cajun Timing, and a two mile fun walk in downtown Abbeville will open the weekend of fun activities.
This is a charity event to benefit the Christian Service Center here in Abbeville, which provides food and help for the needy. The event begins in front of the Courthouse on Concord Street.
Online registration is available at register.cajuntiming.com or registration forms may be downloaded at giantomelette.org and mailed in. Minimum registration is $30 now until November 4. Late registration will begin at 8 a.m. on the day of the event. Late registration will be $35.
Warm up exercises will begin at 8:40 a.m. and the event begins at 9 a.m..
Last year, new walking and running routes were created and will be continued.
This year, participants will receive a drawstring bag (back pack) with our logo as a gift. They will be distributed at the registration table on event day. Participants are asked to wear any appropriate active wear that they choose.
Teams are welcomed as well as individual walkers and runners.
Award medals are planned for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place runners in age groups and special overall awards.
Runner age groups will be 9-10 years, 11-14, 15-19, 20-29, 30-39,40-49, 50-59, and 60 -70+.
Top three finishing walkers will receive 1st, 2nd and 3rd place special awards.
The highest contributing team and individual fund raiser will receive special awards also.
