The 2014 Vermilion Parish 4-H Achievement Day will be held Saturday at Kaplan High School. The day will be dedicated to Mike Couvillon at the events opening assembly at 8 a.m.

Former Louisiana Gov. Edwin Edwards said Monday that he will enter the race for Louisiana’s 6th Congressional District, ending months of speculation about the 86-year-old’s political future.
The Ognibene family purchased the carnival horse called "Pony" that road thousands of children for only $500 in 1968. The children road the horse at Frank's Drive Inn in Abbeville for 28 years.
The 2014 court for the Snooks Relay in Erath was announced last week and making the court were Catherine Domingues, queen Caitlin Domingues and Lena Issa. Catherine and Caitlin are sisters.
