Abbeville Police investigate recent break-ins

Two young men had big dreams of scoring big last Sunday and Monday with the businesses they attempted to burglarize.

Unfortunately, they came away with a handful of items after attempting to burglarize two jewelry stores, one financial store and a store that sells paraphernalia.

Sunday morning, around 3 a.m., their first attempt at the big money items was when they attempted to break in to MeLancon Jewelers on the La. 14 Bypass in Abbeville.

Around 3 a.m. Sunday morning, two young men, wearing hoodies, attempted to break into the jewelry store through a back of the store but were unsuccessful.

The two young men, caught on video,  knocked down the surveillance  camera after they realized it was there.

The young men tried their luck getting into the front door at Melancon Jewelers and were unsuccessful.

The next night, their luck was not  any better. They went to Armentor’s Jeweler and once again, were unsuccessful at breaking in.

They did, however, venture to Tiffany Plaza and had success breaking into two businesses.

At World Finance, no money was taken.

A few stores down in Tiffany Plaza,   they broke Curious Goods, which is the store at the end of the Tiffany Plaza Shopping Center.

Items were taken from that store.

The Abbeville Police Department is investigating the crime and has a couple of suspects they are looking at. As of Thursday afternoon, no arrests have been made.
