JA of Abbeville has successful Project Backpack

ABBEVILLE – Junior Auxiliary of Abbeville started off their year on a great note with the success of Project Backpack.
Don’t let the name fool you, one of the chapter’s oldest projects doesn’t just provide backpacks, but provides children across Vermilion Parish with school supplies, uniforms, coats, shoes, belts and any other requested needs.
Chairman Laurie Hulin and Co-Chairman Rita Broussard fulfilled needs from school counselors along with individual needs from the community.
A few of the Project’s successes included 44 children were provided school supplies and uniforms and one child was assisted with lice shampoo.
Cecil Picard Elementary received a bulk donation of needed supplies and Herod Elementary received a large donation of belts.
A huge thank you to Chapter members, community patrons, the Vermilion Chamber of Commerce and Tans Haven in Kaplan for donating necessities to the project over the past month. Assistance will continue to be provided upon request from schools and individuals in the Parish.
