Celebrating 60th anniversary
On Friday, June 24, 2016, Erath natives Larson “Cap” Bodin and the former Gertie Hebert celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary.
The couple married on Sunday, June 24, 1956 at noon at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Erath. Father Emery Labbe’ was the celebrant for the wedding mass. The reception was held at the KC hall that once stood on Hwy. 331. The couple went to Galveston, Texas for their honeymoon.
Cap Bodin is son of the late Francis and Emily Bodin, while Gertie is the oldest daughter of the late John Presley “Boni” and Lilly Hebert. Their wedding party included: maid of honor Lois LeBlanc (Lanphear); bridemaids, Deanna LeMaire (Hebert), Deanna Granger (Harrington) and Janel Bares (Thomas); best man Paul Allen Boudreaux; Groomsman: Virgil Hebert, Leland Harrington and Rodney Dugas.
The couple has resided in Erath most of those sixty years and have four children, Brian, Stacy, Janine (who is married to Thomas Hebert) and Sean (who is married to Gwen Stoute). Their five grandchildren include: Bryce, Tate and Bailey Bodin from Erath and Emily and Nick Hebert from New Orleans. The couple has one great-granddaughter, Aubrye Bodin.
