Demonstrations, speeches, portfolios, and foods workshop anyone? On Saturday, December 14, 2013, Vermilion 4-H held a Fundamentals workshop to learn the basics of preparing and presenting a speech or demo for Demonstration Day. In addition, 4-5th graders participated in a Healthy Snack workshop while the 6th-12th graders learned how to tackle the Portfolio record-keeping system. Beginning at 9:00 am, 4-H Agent Shannan Waits discussed the basics of a good demonstration. Marcus Broussard, a 4-H’er from Abbeville High School, presented a demo on how to make a fruit smoothie. Each participant was given a simple demonstration to practice. The group was then divided and the 4-5th graders participated in the foods workshop, then participated in a fitness activity. The 6-12th graders learned how to complete portfolios. (Submitted by Marcus Broussard, Jr. Leader Reporter)
