Broussard named LeBlanc Elementary Teacher of the Year

On Thursday, December 19, 2013, LeBlanc Elementary Principal Dawn Amy announced that Brandy Broussard was the school’s 2014-15 Teacher of the Year. The 5th grade teacher was then greeted with flowers by family members on hand.

Broussard is a 1998 graduate of Abbeville High, and a 2003 UL graduate. She taught third grade at Herod Elementary from 2003 until 2009, and has been a fifth grade teacher at Leblanc Elementary for four years. She serves as the instructional team leader for fifth grade and serves on the technology committee and student council committee.

Broussard stated “My job is all about the students, I absolutely love working with the children. There is never two days alike and they challenge me just as much as I challenge them.” She added, “One of the favorite parts of my job is watching children be the best that they can be, seeing them believe in themselves enough to face the challenges of this world. I wouldn't want any other job but to educate children!”

Broussard’s parents are Mark and Tina Broussard, and her grandparents are Dewey and Liz Meaux and Paul and Shirley Broussard.

The next level of competition for the LeBlanc Elementary teacher will now be at the parish level.
