VC travels to Morgan City

Vermilion Catholic has a big match-up for both the Eagles and the Lady Eagles tonight as they travel to Morgan City to take on Central Catholic.

“We are trying to stay focused on the plan, and that’s winning district right now,” Lady Eagles Head Coach Kim Guidry said. “Central Catholic is one of the best teams in district. Our thing is we are just tying to get better every game, and this game should
help us do that.”

Central Catholic is ranked number one at the moment in the 1A power rankings.

Central Catholic also beat the Lady Eagles twice last year.

For the Lady Eagles to get a big victory, they are going to need a big game from their starting five; Katie Frith, Ashaliee Brailey, Kalyen Collins, Ellen Langlinais and Leah Camel.

The Lady Eagles have all the momentum needed to come out of this game with a victory.

The Lady Eagles have won seven straight games and nine of their last 10.

“For us to get better we are trying to win all the games we should win, and try to steal one on the road,” Guidry said. “This is one of those games that we are trying to steal on the road.”

The VC Eagles also have a tough match-up as they too will take on Central Catholic.

The Eagles enter this game on a four game losing streak, but have played the four toughest games they have played all year long.

“We are just trying to make sure we are doing everything right,” Eagles Head Coach Roch Charpentier said. “We really can’t worry about what other teams are doing until we get ourselves squared away, and we are really close.”

There may be a slight change to the starting lineup for the Eagles in tonight’s games.

Shay Laporte, Drake Broussard, Brennan Gallet and Chris Campbell are all slated to start. Starting guard Mike Campbell is a little under the weather and is going to be a game time decision.

If Campbell can’t go then Ethan Menard will step up and take his place in the starting lineup.
