Pascual of Kaplan leads defense to win, earns Player of the Week

Nigel Pascual is a familiar face on the Player of the Week circuit, having been named last year for his defensive play. He did it again Friday night as a largely defensive game was controlled by Kaplan for most of the night. “It wasn’t just me,” he said. “There’s no way we could’ve won without the whole defense. We’ve been doing a really great job as a team and, even if I had a good night, it’s only because of them.” The Pirates defeated West St. Mary 14-10 on their Homecoming night. West St. Mary has always played Kaplan tough, according to Pascual, and the Pirates did a good job of stepping up. Pascual and his team will next travel to Erath for an in-parish and district rivalry game against Erath this Friday night.
