More offensive struggles for Abbeville
A problem that has plagued the Abbeville Wildcats all year manifested against Notre Dame on Friday night.
Able to move the ball down the field at times, it was the lack of making a score that hurt the Wildcats, who under normal circumstances would have had a difficult challenge in Notre Dame.
The 59-0 loss keeps the Wildcats winless on the season as they prepare for their last two games of the year. The first of those is against Kaplan in an annual district and parish rivalry game that includes a chance to win the Russo Trophy, which has been held in Kaplan for the last several years.
The Pirates are fresh off a win over Erath, and the Wildcats are looking for a chance to pick up a win.
After Kaplan comes West St. Mary, who narrowly escaped a bout with North Vermilion on Friday night.
While there has been growth in the Wildcats’ play, there is still work to be done to prepare them for these last two games, with the Kaplan game taking place this Thursday night.
