Lady Wildcats lose three game winning streak

The Abbeville Lady Wildcats entered the game versus Deridder, winning three of their last four basketball games.

Even though they fought till the end, the Lady Wildcats dropped their second game in a row, by the final score of 43-36.

“We got down early, and that’s something you just can’t do against a good team like Deridder,” Head Coach Dean Dronet said. “I am proud of our team though we were down 18-1 at one point, and we were able to battle back.
Of course we wanted the victory, but I’m proud of the effort of our team.”

The Lady Wildcats were held scoreless in the first quarter, while Deridder scored 16 points.

It wasn’t until a minute into the second quarter, the Lady Wildcats scored their first point.

If you were to take away the first quarter ,the Lady Wildcats out scored Deridder 36-27 in the second through fourth quarter.

Deridder is ranked number three in the 4A rankings.

“I think the second through fourth quarter showed our girls we can play with just about anyone,” Coach Dronet said.

Leading the way for the Lady Wildcats was Christina Hackshaw who scored 12 points.

Jada Darby, Arrayia Starlard and Bianca Levy scored seven points apiece.

Barbara Bryant rounded out the scoring for Abbeville with three points.

The Lady Wildcats record now sits at 9-10.

Next on the schedule for Abbeville is North Central. This will stand as the last game before district play begins.
