Gueydan Fire Chief arrested

Louisiana State Police detectives, working in cooperation with Immigration Customs Enforcement agents, the Lafayette Police Department and the Vermilion Parish Sheriff’s Office, arrested the Gueydan fire chief for charges relating to alleged child sex crimes on Monday, June 28th.

Several months ago, troopers obtained information that 43-year-old Lindsey Troy LeBlanc of Gueydan was engaging in sexually explicit conversations with whom he believed to be an underage female. Through the course of investigation, troopers discovered LeBlanc was the fire chief of Gueydan. It is believed that some of the crimes were committed while LeBlanc was at work at the fire department.

Troopers obtained a search warrant on Monday for the Gueydan Fire Department as well as LeBlanc’s home. Troopers executed the warrants and seized three computer hard drives.

Troopers also obtained an arrest warrant for LeBlanc for computer aided solicitation of a minor and indecent behavior with a juvenile.

LeBlanc was taken into custody at the Gueydan Fire Department without incident. He was booked into the Vermilion Parish Correctional Center for the warrant.

LeBlanc also has a warrant for indecent behavior with a juvenile, malfeasance in office, and computer aided solicitation of a juvenile in Terrebonne Parish. The charges in Terrebonne stem from evidence gathered during the course of this investigation and the case remains under investigation.

This case was part of “Operation Child Watch.” The mission of “Operation Child Watch” is to rescue children from the potential abuse of child predators who prey on the innocence of a child.

Louisiana State Police will continue to work closely with other law enforcement agencies to locate and arrest these individuals.
