Dozier and LeBlanc Elementary offer the sound of Christmas music

Without a doubt, music plays an undeniable role during the Christmas season. From Thanksgiving until the day winter break begins, schools are filled with holiday songs that are tied into curriculum based lessons in classroom settings, as well as during plays and concerts.

Under the direction of Band Director Mike Vizier and Music teacher Jenet Marsh, both Dozier Elementary and LeBlanc Elementary added the talents of their 3rd graders and the 5th grade band students to their school's holiday events this year.

On Wednesday, December 14, LeBlanc Elementary opened its gym for their first band concert and Christmas musical ever in their new school facility. In rare history making moment, the LES band entertained the audience first, followed by their third grade holiday musical.

Dozier Elementary followed with their performances on Friday, December 16. Their concert and musical events were held in the school cafeteria. They held a morning performance for the Pre K- 5 student body and then a second one for parents and special visitors in the afternoon.

Both fifth grade bands under the direction of Mike Vizier played at each school. The sister bands began their musical school journey in August by joining their school band and felt a strong sense of pride while playing for their first public audience.

In addition to their school performance, for the first time ever, Dozier Elementary's 5th grade band also was invited to participate in the Erath Middle Concert held at the gym on Thursday evening, December 15.

This year, under the guidance of the new music teacher at both schools, Jenet Marsh, brought to life a Christmas new musical production "Elfis and the Sleigh Riders." Marsh had all students in 3rd graders from each school as participants. With the help of school leaders, parents and the third grade teachers, Marsh and the students were able to participate in a successful holiday musical.

After a lot of planning, hard work and dedication, undoubtedly both third grade casts, the fifth grade band students and musical leaders were able to bring the sound of Christmas music into their schools.
