Two Vermilion Parish men arrested on drug charges

According to Vermilion Parish Sheriff Mike Couvillon, two Vermilion Parish residents were arrested on drug charges.
On Monday, Jan. 26, agents with the Vermilion Parish Sheriff’s Narcotics Division were conducting criminal patrol for subjects with active warrants in Gueydan.
Agents observed Gene Zenon Jr, (b/m, Dob: 9-17-1984, address 1003 Guegnon Street in Abbeville parked on private property.
Zenon had several outstanding warrants for his arrest.  When Zenon observed the agents, he departed from his location. Narcotics agents also observed another male subject inside of the vehicle with Zenon. 
Agents initiated a traffic stop on Zenon, but he refused. He began traveling west on La Highway 14, leaving the Gueydan at a high rate of speed. 
After a short pursuit, the agents observed the passenger side door open, and a male subject pour a substance onto the shoulder of the roadway, with some of it falling onto the roadway. 
The vehicle accelerated once again, continuing to travel west at a high rate of speed where a marked VPSO patrol unit joined in the attempt to apprehend Zenon. 
When Zenon was a short distance from the units, he suddenly slowed to almost a stop and a black male subject exited the passenger side of the vehicle. The vehicle took off again. 
Agents apprehended the subject, identified as Wallace Turner, (b/m, dob: 8-6-1982, address 311 South Frederick Kaplan, LA), and detained him. 
With the assistance of the Gueydan Police Department, Turner was transported back to the scene where the suspected narcotics were thrown.  A short search ensued where agents located several pills on the shoulder of the roadway. 
Other agents with the VPSA patrol division continued after Zenon. 
The chase was discontinued after Zenon entered Jeff Davis Parish due to his erratic and violent driving.
A short time after agents discontinued the pursuit. it was learned that Zenon was stopped and apprehended by the Jennings Police Department. 
A search of his vehicle turned up suspected illegal narcotics. 
Zenon was arrested and transported to Jeff Davis Parish correctional facility where he was booked and transferred to the Vermilion Parish Correctional center to be booked on his active warrants as well as his new pending charges. 
Turner was also arrested and transported to the Vermilion Parish Correctional Center for booking.  He is currently on parole with the Department of Corrections and a detainer was placed on him. 
Gene Zenon Jr, was charged with failure to appear for trial for possession with intent to distribute oxycodone, several traffic warrants, possession of dolophine, possession of a prescription without a valid prescription and aggravated flight
Wallace Turner was charged with possession of dolophine, possession of a prescription without a valid prescription and transactions involving drug proceeds as well as a parole hold. 
The Vermilion Sheriff’s Office would like thank the Gueydan Police Department, Lake Arthur Police Department, Jeff Davis Sheriff’s office and Jennings Police department for the assistance in the apprehension of Zenon and Turner. 
Sheriff Couvillon would also like to applaud the concerned citizens of Vermilion Parish for their awareness and assistance in helping the Sheriff’s Office in fighting the war on illegal drugs.
