Funeral for Abbeville's Picard, who was beaten, is Thursday

The man who was beaten and then died of the beating a month later is being buried Thursday in Abbeville.
Rickey Louis Picard, Jr., who was only 33, lost his life last weekend as a result of injuries sustained during a robbery on April 7 on Frank’s Alley.
The beating and robbery occurred early morning and Picard was transported to Abbeville General Hospital. His condition never improved.
Picard leaves behind his fiancé, Marie Vice of Abbeville and both his parents, Rickey Louis Picard Sr. and Jeanelle Fields Picard, plus seven children.
Kinchen Funeral Home in Abbeville is in charge of the arrangements. Funeral services will be this morning at 11 a.m.
The Abbeville Police, since the beating, arrested five men. When they were first arrested, none were charged with first degree murder.
John Hebert III, who is alleged to be the guy on the video shown jumping on top of Picard, was first charged with second degree robbery and attempted first degree murder.
Since Picard passed, new charges of first degree murder were sent to the district attorney’s office.
Abbeville Police first charged Francis Briggs, Preston Toussaint and Colt Turner, the first arrested in connection to the case, each with Second Degree Robbery. New charges of first degree murder were also sent to the district attorney’s office.
