Couple marry at Palmetto State Park

Miss Bliss Nicole Hebert and Jimmie Dale Bertrand, Jr., both of Forked Island, exchanged wedding vows on February 7, 2015 at Palmetto Island State Park in Abbeville.
Justice of the Peace Jessie Fabre officiated the 2 p.m. ceremony.
The bride is the daughter of Mrs. Janet Landry of Kaplan and Mr. Johnny Hebert, Sr. of Kaplan. Grandparents are Mrs. Lorraine and the late Leo Hebert of Kaplan, the late Lily and Maxie Vincent of Kaplan and the late Mrs. Ada Broussard of Kaplan.
The groom is the son of Mrs. Dorothy Abshire of Cow Island and the late Jimmie Bertrand, Sr., the late Annie and J.B. Abshire of Kaplan and the late Bertha and Presley Bertrand of Kaplan.
Music for the ceremony was provided by the couple, family and friends with special thanks going to Linda and Phil Lormand for music selections.
Escorted by her father, the bride wore a sweeheart satin ivory dress with a beaded bodice, cap sleeves, ruffled bottom, and a button-up lace back.
Her veil was hand made by Jenny Prather, sister of the groom. It was an ivory tulle with teardrop beading accented with a feather comb and a camouflage ribbon.
She carried a bouquet of cream roses and dahlias. The ivory feather roses were accented with branches of greenery, brown and hunter green feathers, and pheasant feathers hand tied with brown and cream lattice work ribbon.
Tiffany Hebert, sister of the bride, served as maid of honor.
Junior bridesmaids were Carlie Hebert, sister of the bride and Noble Hebert, godchild of the bride. Brooklyn Prather, niece of the groom, served as the flower girl. They wore ivory satin and lace dresses with camouflage bows made by the mother of the groom.
The attendants wore a black, one shoulder hi-low dress accented with max 4 camouflage sashes. The bouquets were green roses, black and green feathers hand tied with black ribbon.
Steven Prather, brother-in-law and friend of the groom, served as best man. Groomsman included Jamey Frederick, cousin of the groom. The ring bearer was Daylon Landry, nephew of the bride. They all wore black, long sleeved button up shirts with feathered fishing lures as boutonnieres.
Table centerpieces were cattails, green gerbera daisies, cream feather daisies with orange and burgandy lilies in log vases.
The bride’s cake was made by Danielle Hargrave. The three layers consisted of ducks on the top, couple in the boat was the middle and the bottom layer were fish. The flavor of the top layer was carrot cake, the middle was black forest and the bottom layer was white chocolate raspberry.
The groom’s cake, baked by Linda Lormand, was a hunting and fishing themed red velvet and chocolate cake.
A special thanks goes out to the family and friends who provided food and help throughout the reception.
