The Ville Platte Police Department recovered narcotics Sunday night, March 9, which led to the arrest of three local residents.

Chief Neal Lartigue said officers received information suggesting someone in the community was in possession of cocaine. A search warrant was secured and executed at a residence in the southwest portion of the city.

Once inside, officers located phencyclidine (PCP), marijuana, crack cocaine, drug paraphernalia and seized $851 in cash. The department will begin the seizure process for a 1988 Lincoln Town Car.

As a result of this investigation, charges have been filed against the following three persons:

•Trivinski Edwards, 22, 1417 W. Beech St., Ville Platte, was charged with distribution of a controlled dangerous substance (cocaine), possession of drug paraphernalia, manufacturing of crack cocaine, possession of phencyclidine (PCP) and possession with intent to distribute cocaine.

•Jenna Holston, 20, 1417 W. Beech St., Ville Platte, was charged with possession of phencyclidine (PCP) in the presence of a minor.

•Jermaine Fontenot, 31, 1531 MLK Drive, Ville Platte, was charged with possession of crack cocaine, simple possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Lartigue encouraged the public to continue reporting illegal narcotic activities to his department. He said all callers will remain anonymous.

“We appreciate the public’s help and support, and we could not do it without your support,” Lartigue said.
