Thursday trash pick up moves to Wednesday

The Vermilion Parish Solid Waste Department has changed its Thanksgiving holiday trash pick up schedule.

Rickey LeBlanc, director of the Solid Waste Department, said the only day that will change is Thursday.

He said if a resident’s trash is scheduled to be picked up on Thursday, (Thanksgiving Day), he is asking them to place their cans along the road on Wednesday morning for them to be picked up.

After Thursday, trash pickup will be the same on Friday and for the weekend.

Many public and state office buildings will be shut down Thursday and Friday in Vermilion Parish.

The Vermilion Parish Police Jury Office and the Vermilion Parish Sheriff Office will be closed Thursday and Friday.

City Hall in Abbeville will also be closed Thursday and Friday. The Abbeville Police Department Office will also be closed.

Kaplan, Gueydan, Maurice and Erath City Halls are shutting down Thursday and Friday. They will reopen on Monday.

The state’s Food Stamp and Medicaid office’s are also closed Thursday and Friday.
