Vermilion Parish teams hanging on to top 32 power point ranking

The latest power point ranking was released on Tuesday and it was good news for some local teams, and bad news for others.
A week ago, seven boy and girl teams were in good shape to make the playoffs.
Now, with the latest power point rankings, seven will be lucky to make the playoffs.
The top 32 in the final power points rankings earn a playoff bid. The top 16 get a first round home playoff game.
There is a good chance three girl teams will be playing at home in the first round.
In girls, the Class A power point ranking is top heavy with teams from District 7-1A.
Three of the top five teams are from the same district.
Vermilion Catholic (23-5) has the No. 2 ranking, while Lafayette Christian Academy (22-7) is No 3.
Gueydan (18-7) is No. 5.
North Central High (23-2) is the No. 1 seed in power point ranking. Arcadia (25-1) is No. 4 seed.
In Class 3A, Iota (24-5) is No. 1 in the latest girls ranking.
Erath (24-4) is No. 8 and E.D. White (23-2) is No. 10.
The Kaplan Lady Pirates (6-15) are No. 37 and North Vermilion (9-14) is No 44.
The Delcambre Lady Panthers (11-14) climbed into the top 32 last week. This week, after three straight losses, the Lady Panthers dropped to No. 35.

Boys hanging on
The Abbeville Wildcats (13-10) got the win it needed to remain in the top 32 of the Class 4A power point ranking.
Abbeville (13-10) is No. 26.
District foe Breaux Bridge (20-7) is No. 5 and St. Martinville (19-10) is No. 13.
St. Thomas More (18-6) is No. 1 in Class 4A.
In Class 3A, North Vermilion (15-8) fell to No. 26 after being upset by Kaplan last week.
Peabody (24-0) is No. 1 in Class 3A.
Patterson (17-4) is No. 6 and E.D. White (18-3) is No. 9.
Erath (11-15) is No. 45 and Kaplan (5-18) is No. 50.
In Class 1A, Lafayette Christian Academy (24-2) remains No. 1. Centerville (10-9) is No. 26, Central Catholic (8-12) is No. 22 and Vermilion Catholic is No. 30. Hanson (8-14) is No. 31.
