Vermilion Parish basketball heats up in gyms on Tuesday

The great thing about basketball is that it is always warm in a gym.
So, while it may be 24 degrees tonight, in the gym, the temperature is expected to be 75 degrees.
With tournaments now over, parish teams will be getting ready for district games to either begin or continue.
The Abbeville Wildcats are on the road to play Rayne.
The Wildcats took a break over the holidays, while the AHS Lady Wildcats played in the Yuletide Tournament at VC over the holidays.
The Lady Wildcats will be home Tuesday to take on DeRidder in a non-district game.
The Vermilion Catholic Lady Eagles will be going for district win No 2 when they entertain Lafayette Christian Academy in Abbeville. The Lady Eagles are coming off a district 40-24 win over Hanson this past Friday.
The VC Eagles will play their first district game right after the girls’ game against Lafayette Christian Academy.
The Delcambre boys and girls are on the road to battle Westminster.
The Kaplan Pirates and Lady Pirates are expected to entertain Morgan City, if Morgan City has school Tuesday.
The girls play at 5:30 and boys will follow.
The North Vermilion Patriots and Lady Patriots will be on the road to battle Port Barre in a non-district game.
North Vermilion and Kaplan are coming off wins on Friday.
The Patriots cruised to a 62-36 win over VC behind Mike Bessard’s 15 points.
Kaplan beat David Thibodeaux High School 61-54 behind Jalen Bates’ 24 points.
