Devren Constantine is one of VC's top four receivers. He uses his 9 1/2 inch hands to catch the football.

VC wide receiver has 9 1/2 inch hands

It is no secret that Vermilion Catholic has four of the best wide receivers in Class A. One of those receivers may have the largest hands in Class A.
DeAndre Hopkins is a wide receiver for the Houston Texans. His hands are 10 inches long (measuring from pinkie to thumb). New York Giant wideout Odell Beckem also has 10 inch hands. Larry Fitzgerald of the Cardinals has 10.5 inch hands. New Orleans Saints wide receiver Brandin Cooks is 5-10 and his hands are 9 5/8 inches long.
VC’s Devren Constantine is a senior for the VC Eagles, who has 36 caches for 741 yards.
He stands 5-feet-11 inches tall and weighs 155 pounds. He runs a 4.5 40 yard dash, which is not bad for a high school player.
Looking at him, you see a tall, slender player who has good speed, but somehow makes unbelievable catches. That being said, there’s not much room to miss when you’ve got two fishing nets for hands.
Constantine has hands that measure 9 1/2 inches long. To put that in perspective, those are much larger than the average American male hand (7 1/2 inches)
Constantine wears 2X receiving gloves because of his long, skinny fingers.
“Having large hands helps me catch the football better,” said Constantine after VC’s win over Delhi-Charter.
His large hands help him average three receptions a game for an average of 20 yards a catch. Many of his catches are 15 yards down field and then he outruns the defenders for more yards.
He has had at least once catch in the 12 games. His best game was six catches for 126 yards and three scores.
In the win against Delhi Charter, Constantine has four receptions for 47 yards. In the game while on defense, his large hands also helped him pick up a fumble and run it back 74 yards for a touchdown.
“I just saw green grass when I picked it up,” said Constantine.
“He has become the player I expected him to become,” said VC head coach Russell Kunhs.
Constantine transferred to VC from Acadiana High. He had to sit out eight games last year. This year is his first and last full year.
The No. 2 Eagles take on the No. 6 Southern Lab Kittens Friday at home. The winner of the game goes to Division IV Finals in the New Orleans Super Dome. Southern Lab went last year but lost in the finals.
