VC Lady Eagles too much for NV Lady Patriots

The Vermilion Catholic Lady Eagles were too much to handle for the North Vermilion Lady Patriots, winning by the final score 49-29
In what started as a defensive battle, with the score at the end of the first being 8-4, VC.
The Lady Eagles widened the gap a little by half time scoring 10 in the second quarter.
At half time it was 18-9 VC.
“We just played really flat at the beginning of the game,” Vermilion Catholic Lady Eagles Head Coach Kim Guidry said. “That’s something we are going to have to work on moving forward.”
Whatever adjustments were at half time seemed to work for the Lady Eagles.
They came out in the third quarter and out did what they had done in the first half, scoring 21 in the third quarter alone.
They also widened the gap between them and the Lady Pats to an insurmountable score of 39- 16.
Leading the Lady Eagle in scoring was Katie Frith, who scored 15 points.
Seven of those points came from free throws, most of which were in the fourth quarter.
Only one point behind her was Kaylen Collins, who scored 14.
A good portion of her scoring took place in the explosive third quarter. She scored 10 of her 14 points in the third quarter alone.
Not to be left out is Ashailee Brailey, who scored 12 points.
“We just played much better in the second half, especially the third quarter,” Guidry said. “It was good for confidence that we come out there and have a good strong showing to the second half.”
As for Lady Pats head coach Phillip Freeman, he knows his team needs a little more work, but he is optimistic.
“We didn’t play our best, but we have very young squad,” Freeman said. “We did some things that will drive me crazy, but we did a lot of good things to. Things that we can build on, and that’s what we are trying to do is just get better every game, and so far we are doing that.”
Leading the Lady Pats in scoring was Simone Pillette, who led the team with 12 points. Right behind her was Lanie Breaux with 10.
Next on the schedule for the Lady Pats is the Lady Pat Shootout.
For VC, the Catholic High tournament will begin on Monday.
