VC, Erath reach girls finals in parish tournament

The Erath Lady Bobcats, the No. 3 seed, advanced to the finals of the girls parish basketball tournament after beating the No. 2 seed Gueydan Honey Bears, 71-52, on Wednesday.
The Lady Bobcats played the No. 1 seed and two-time defending parish champs, the VC Lady Eagles, Thursday night in the finals.
The game was played after the Meridional went to press.

Monette Bolden of Erath popped Gueydan for a tournament high 34 points in Erath’s win, 71-52, on Wednesday.
Monette had the sharp eye from three-point land. She made five treys total and four in the first half.
In two games, Bolden, a sophomore, has now made seven treys in two games. As a team, Erath has made a total of 18 treys in two games.
The Lady Bobcats jumped on Gueydan in the first period. EHS led 21-9 at the end of the quarter.
Gabby Harrington scored five, while Bolden made seven and Alexis Lege added six in the quarter.
Harrington finished the game with 11 while Lege had 13.
Hannah Soileau (8) and Olivia Blanchard (5) also scored for EHS.
Ashari Terry led GHS with 22, while Ke’Ava Charles made 16.
As a team, Gueydan made 7 three-pointers. In the game, there were a total of 15 treys made between the two teams.

The Vermilion Catholic Lady Eagles beat the Lady Panthers of Delcambre for the third time this year.
VC won 62-36 to advance to the finals.
VC had the game in control in the first period. They led 16-2 after the first period.
Leah Camel, who led VC with 15, score eight points in the first frame. She finished the game, making 7 out of 9 free throws.
VC had eight players who scored. They were Olivia Chiasson (9), Jay Demouchet (11), Bella Doucet (12), Kelly White (6), Haley Faulk (3), Emma LeBlanc (4) and Anne-Catherine Gallet (2).
DHS was led by Nicole Bouillion, who had 24 points.
Taylor Moneaux made four, while Mai Pope and Saige LeBlanc each scored three points. Cheyenne Dunn made two.
