VC Eagles rally against Gueydan in second half

It was a tale of two halves for the Vermilion Catholic Eagles.
The first half belonged to the Gueydan Bears behind the shooting of Gueydan eighth grader Daylon Charles. Charles finished with 28 points.
The Bears led 32-28 at half time.
Then first-year VC head coach Mike McCoy moved VC’s big man, Tre´Vian Lane inside to start the second half. Low and behold, Lane scored six straight points and the Eagles went on to win 68-53.
VC improved to 10-4 and 3-2 in district. VC travels to Centerville (7-5, 4-0) on Friday.

Gueydan’s Dakota Luquette nailed a jumper to put the Bears within two points, 40-38, of taking the lead with two minutes to play in the third period. But that would be as closest as the Bears would get.

Four players for VC scored in double digits. Nick Fletcher and Payton Theriot each had 10 points for VC.
