Patriots, Pirates round three

Tonight’s game against the North Vermilion Patriots and the Kaplan Pirates, marks the third time these two teams have played each other.

The first time they faced off was during the championship game of the Parish Tournament and the Pirates won by the final score of 45-43 in the waning seconds of overtime.

The second time they faced off was a couple of weeks ago and the Patriots got the better of them with the final score of 54-35.

This third game at Kaplan, should be an exciting match-up to watch.

“The second time we played, the game was closer than the score would indicate,” Patriots Head Coach Jack LeBlanc said. “This is setting up to be a good game because both teams are executing right now,
and playing some of their best basketball. It should be fun.”

As far as playing a team for the third time, coach LeBlanc is not so much worried about Kaplan as he is about his own team.

“It’s always hard to play a team three times, especially late in the season,” LeBlanc said. “For us it is just going to come down to the team that controls the ball better and has fewer turnovers.”

This game is also important for the Pirates, as they have been making a steady climb up the power rankings.

When these two teams faced off a couple of weeks ago, the Pirates were ranked 44th.

Since then the Pirates have moved themselves up seven spots and now find themselves in the 37th spot.

Only the top 32 teams make the playoffs.

So with only five games remaining, every win they can get is an important one.

This game is scheduled to take place after the Lady Patriots and Lady Pirates game has concluded.

That game is scheduled to start at 6 p.m.
