North Vermilion boys win big, girls fall to Patterson

The North Vermilion Patriots outscored Opelousas Catholic 24-8 in the first period and cruised to a 69-19 win.
At halftime, NV led 35-14.
Eleven players scored for NV.
Malik Criner, a freshman, continues to shine for the Patriots. He scored 12. Other scorers for NV were Ryan Broussard (9), Grant Dardar (8), Tyler Galley (7), Blake Turner (6), Bailey LeLeux (6), Dade Dieterich (5), Brent Hollier (5), Triston Romero (4) and Jaylon Miller (4), and Dreylan Adams (3).

The North Vermilion Lady Patriots lost a heart breaker to Patterson in a district opener for both clubs.
North Vermilion fell 32-29 at home on Friday.
After falling behind 7-2 in the first period, North Vermilion had to battle back the rest of the game. At halftime they were down 14-7.
After the third period, the Lady Patriots trailed 24-18.
The Lady Patriots stepped it up and outscored Patterson 11-7 to get within a shot of Patterson.
Emily Faulk, who scored 14 in the game, scored six in the fourth period. K’ Leria Bolden scored all of her five points in the fourth period.
Patterson’s Alexa Benjamin paced her team with 16 points. She went to the free throw line six times in the fourth period and made five to keep her team in the game. Patterson did not make a bucket in the fourth quarter but they did make seven free throws.
Other scorers for North Vermilion were Zoe Graham (5), Megan Kelly (2), Shakyla Brailey (2) and Areil Plowden (1).
