Lady Panthers claw Haynes Academy
The Delcambre Lady Panthers may have fallen behind early, but thanks to the play of Taylor Trahan, the Lady Panthers were able to claw their way back and win by the final score of 6-3.
“It was a good win,” Lady Panthers head coach Chad Hayes said. “Our girls stayed composed. We started out slow with the bats, and had a little trouble at first. We finally settled in, and finally started hitting the ball well.
“I’m so proud of this team and the fact they never gave up, and the way they fought back.”
With the win the Lady Panthers will now square off against Winnfield this Saturday, in Winnfield. Game time is scheduled for 6 p.m.
Haynes Academy took an early lead in the game by scoring one run in the top of the second inning and two in the top of the third, for the 3-0 lead.
It wouldn’t take the Lady Panthers long to put some runs up of their own.
In the bottom of the third, the Lady Panthers would score a run on a Allison Broussard hit in the bottom of the third inning.
The fourth inning rolled around, and the Lady Panthers found themselves tied at 3-3 when Taylor Trahan stepped up to the plate.
After battling for a few pitches, and with a runner on base, Trahan crushed the pitch to dead center field for a two-run home run.
That home run would put the Lady Panthers up by the score of 5-3.
In the top of the fifth inning, Trahan who was on the mound, found herself in a little trouble.
Haynes Academy had a runner on base and the batter hit an apparent two-run home run, which would have tied the game, but the umpire called it foul.

She also pitched all seven innings only giving up three runs on five hits. Trahan also struck out nine Haynes Academy batters.
“She (Taylor Trahan) has been our workhorse all year long,” Hayes said. “She has been there for us on the mound, and today she showed up at the plate. She helped herself and her teammates out in a big way. I’m proud of her and the entire team for the game they played.”
Allison Broussard also had a big day at the plate. She was 2-for-4 with a double, two RBIs and a run scored.
