Lady Eagles are moving on

VC routs Cedar Creek in first round of playoffs

The VC Lady Eagles started their playoff run the exact same way they ended their regular season, with a blow out victory.

The Lady Eagles routed Cedar Creek by the final score of 58-25.

This marks the second year in a row the Lady Eagles have ousted Cedar Creek in the first round.

“We were worried because coach Eagle does a good job with her team (Cedar Creek),” Lady Eagles Head Coach Kim Guidry said. “We were just trying to be as prepared as we could be, and I think the kids came out and played about as well as
they could.”

The Lady Eagles took control of the game from the tip-off.

VC was able to jump out to a huge lead, 16-2, in the first quarter thanks to Kaylen Collins who scored eight of the Lady Eagles 16 points.

The second quarter was much of the same, except Katie Frith and not Kaylen Collins scored eight points in the second quarter.

By the time the halftime break came the Lady Eagles found themselves up 36-10.

The second half was all about getting some of the other players on the VC team some quality playoff minutes.

The Lady Eagles would finish the game out strong and ended up winning by 33 points with a final score of 58-25.

“We can just scratch off one of the five, and now we worry about the second round,” Guidry said. “We are going to enjoy this tonight, and tomorrow get back to work. We know the games only get harder from this point on.”

The Lady Eagles were led to victory by the three girls that have driven this team all season long; Ashailee Brailey, Kaylen Collins and Katie Frith.

Collin and Frith both led the Lady Eagle in scoring with a team and game high 17 points apiece.

They did most of their work in the first half.

Collins scored eight points in the first quarter, and Frith scored eight points in the second quarter.

Braiey wasn’t too far behind Collins and Frith, as she scored 13 points on the night.

Leah Camel was also able to get in on the scoring action by adding five points of her own.

Ellen Langlinais, Kaitlyn Bertrand and Meredith Stutes each added two points respectively.
