Alexa Lege gets ready to bat for Kaplan.

Kaplan girls cruise past E.D White

KAPLAN - The Kaplan Lady Pirates jumped out to an early lead on E. D. White and captured a 12-2 victory on Tuesday at KHS.
The game was decided quickly as Kaplan exerted its will early with eight runs in the first three innings.
A two-run error during the first inning, an RBI double by Abby Trahan, an RBI-double by Olivia Trahan, and an RBI double by Shelbee Leger in the second inning supplied the early offense for Kaplan.
Alexa Lege racked up three RBIs on three hits for Kaplan. She singled in the first and fifth innings and tripled in the sixth inning.
Trahan got the win for Kaplan thanks to 12 strikeouts. Trahan allowed two earned runs on six hits and no walks over six innings.
The Lady Pirates added three more runs in the bottom of the third. The inning got off to a hot start when Trahan singled, plating Dawn Bruton. That was followed up by Trahan’s single, scoring Lege.
The Lady Pirates tacked on another four runs in the sixth. A bases loaded walk scored by Megan Hebert for the inning’s first run. That was followed up by Lege’s triple, bringing home Caitlyn Roy, Bruton and Jennifer Faulk.
Others with hits for Kaplan were Megan Hebert (1-for-3), Shelbee Leger (1-for-2) and Abby Trahan (2-for-4).
With doubles were Olivia, Shelbee and Abby.
Alexa Lege had a triple.
Olivia knocked in four runs, and Alexa Lege knocked in three.
