Honey Bears lose much needed district game

The Gueydan Honey Bears were going to need every win they could get down the stretch to secure their position in the State Championship Playoffs.

The 41-37 loss to Hanson Memorial is not the way the Honey Bears were hoping to start the last week of games.

Before this game the Honey Bears had won two of their last three games and were starting to find themselves starting to get back into rhythm.

The Honey Bears never trailed by much in the game. They were just never able to get over the hump and make a run that would put them in the lead.

The first quarter saw the Honey Bears trail by only one point at 10-9.

The second quarter was much like the first.

The Honey Bears kept it close but were never able to catch up and fell a little further behind, trailing 22-19 at halftime.

The fourth quarter is the only quarter in which the Honey Bears won, 14-12.

It just wasn’t enough for the Honey Bears to come back for the win.

Kiara Charles led the way for the Honey Bears with 15 points.

Ashari Terry and T’nia Leger each added nine points to the scoreboard for the Honey Bears.

Kylie Crochet was the only other Honey Bear to score, and she was able to net three points.

The Honey Bears finish up their regular season against Ascension Episcopal this Friday night at home.

This game could be a crucial game for the Honey Bears and their playoff chances.

Being ranked 27th means they are on the bubble of possibly not making the playoff tournament.

Tip-off is scheduled for 6 p.m.
