Friday's VC/Southern Lab game: The real state championship game?

Many were thinking it before the Delhi Charter Gators game against the Vermilion Catholic Eagles even began.
It was the big elephant in the room that no one wanted to talk about until the final second ticked off the clock.
VC whipped the Gators 44-14 and advanced to the semifinals of the Division IV playoffs.
After the victory was sealed, someone brought it up. The No. 6 Southern Lab Kittens are coming to Abbeville Friday to play the No. 2 Eagles.
No one was too surprised Southern Lab (9-3) beat Central Catholic 30-16 this past Friday.
VC linebacker William Noegel said the hype for the game has been building up since the playoffs began. He is ready to settle it.
“I am tired of the hype,” Noegel said. “We need to play our best. I know some of the players have watched film on them and they have great athletes, who have good size.”
VC quarterback Hunter Frith is calling Friday’s matchup the real state championship despite Southern Lab being the No. 6 seed.
“I would say this is the state championship,” said Frith. “It is going to be a good test for us. We match up well.”
The winner of Friday’s game will play the winner of the Ascension Episcopal/ St. Mary’s game in the Louisiana SuperDome.
