Erath High has huge game on Sunday

On Sunday, the Erath Bobcats will be playing their biggest baseball game in the school’s history.
Erath has a third and deciding game against South Beauregard in the Class 3A quarterfinal game.
Game time is at 3:30 p.m. at South Beauregard.
First-year EHS head coach Jeremy Picard believes in his team.
“I feel confident our kids will be prepared and ready for game three,” said Picard. “It is for the right to go to Sulphur. I have no doubt we will be focused.”
The winner of Sunday’s game will advance to the Class 3A semifinal game in Sulphur.
They will play the winner of No. 1 Brusly and No. 9 Lutcher game. .
Getting the start on the mound for Erath will be junior Bren Faulk.
An Erath baseball team has never advanced to the semifinals.
The two teams played a doubleheader on Friday.
Erath won the first game, 4-3, but lost the night cap, 2-1.
In the second game, Erath could only muster up two hits while South Beauregard had seven. Erath batters struck out 12 times in the second game.
Mason Granger and Layne Faulk had Erath’s only hits in the second game.

In the first game, Erath had a slim lead, 1-0, after five innings. The Bobcats extended it to 2-0 in the top of the sixth frame.
South Beauregard stormed back and went ahead 3-2 with one inning left to play.
Erath scored two in the top of the seventh inning for the victory.
Bren Faulk got the rally started when he got hit by a pitch with no outs in the top of the inning. Chandler LeBlanc singled to left field to advance Faulk to third base. Faulk would score on an error to tie it, 3-3.
With Chandler on third and Granger on first because of a walk, Bryson Suire hit a sac fly that scored Chandler and put Erath ahead for good.
Luke Young pitched 6 2/3 innings and got the win for Erath. He struckout four and gave up five hits.
Faulk came on in relief and got the final batter out to get the save.
Granger had two hits and a RBI. Layne, Kobe Baker and Andre Touchet each had singles for EHS.
