Erath’s Darby, Walker win state indoor titles

A pair of Erath High athletes made some history on Saturday.
Senior Lindsay Darby and sophomore Troynae Walker took home state titles at the Allstate Sugar Bowl/LHSAA Indoor Championships on Saturday at LSU’s Carl Maddox Field House.
Troynae Walker won the Division II girls 60-meter hurdles in 9.32 seconds
“This is my first year running indoors, so I really didn’t know what to expect,” Walker said. “The hardest thing for me was getting used to running the number of hurdles. Today, I tried to go out as fast as I could, and it worked.”
Darby won the Division II girls triple jump with a leap of 35-7.
The Erath girls finished 7th as a team, scoring 23 points.
These two made EHS Indoor Track and Field history by becoming the first indoor State Champions in their respective events.
The event also marked the first time in EHS Girls Track and Field history that two girl Track athletes won two individual state titles at the same Indoor State Track and Field meet.
