BS’in with the bull

Let me be the first to tell you that I am not what you could call a soccer fan.
I do not follow soccer, nor do I really even care about soccer, and I know as a “sports guy” I probably should care about soccer.
The honest truth is that I just find it dreadfully boring.
Now I can appreciate the talent and skill that goes into being a professional soccer player, but that doesn’t mean I have to like the sport.
I would like to believe that most Americans feel the same way about the sport of soccer, as I do.
Now, I haven’t done the proper leg work to actually confirm or deny that, but it’s just a hunch.
Having said that, there is this natural phenomenon that happens every four years that makes the sport of soccer the number one thing on the minds of most Americans, the World Cup.
The World Cup is the biggest sporting event of the entire year.
It is so big that there are countries around the world that have shut down businesses just so everyone can go home and enjoy the match.
On top of that there have been governments that have rationed out electricity throughout the week, just so there will be enough power for everyone to watch their country play.
Everyone gets up for the World Cup, even the Americans.
I’m not even really sure why, as Americans, we care about the World Cup.
We haven’t cared about soccer for four years and all of a sudden we are all soccer fans.
I guess this just goes to show you that patriotism isn’t dead in America.
Although, I have to believe that this makes all the other countries angry.
All of these other countries strive to make the World Cup.
They pay attention each and every year. Some countries literally put blood, sweat and tears into making their team the best they can be.
Then the American team shows up, and 90 percent of their “fans” couldn’t name five players on the team, and that’s with me giving every one Alexi Lalas, who hasn’t played in almost a decade.
With all that said, it is still very impressive what the USA team has done this year.
They have advanced from the “group of death.”
None of the experts expected the American team to advance from their group, and we did it without one of our best players.
This is the best team the Americans have put on the pitch in quite some time.
This is the first time that the USA team actually has a chance of winning the World Cup.
If the American team is fortunate enough to enough to win the World Cup, it will be the first time that America has won the World Cup.
Then three days later, most of the American people will go back to wondering why soccer is actually considered a sport, and in four years the cycle will start over.
