Blanchard nails 6 three-pointers in Erath High win over North Vermilion

DELCAMBRE - Erath High School senior forward Olivia Blanchard had a great night in Erath’s 66-44 win over the North Vermilion Lady Patriots in the first round of the Vermilion Parish Basketball Tournament.
Erath played Wednesday night against Gueydan in the second round. The game finished after deadline.
On Tuesday, Blanchard smoked it from three-point land against North Vermilion. In the first quarter, Blanchard canned five three-pointers, including four in a row.
As the Lady Patriots sat back in a zone, Blanchard bombed the shots.
She made two treys before the five-minute mark in the first period to put Erath up 11-5. Her hot hand sparked other players to try and shoot three pointers.
Teammate Monette Bolden made two treys in the first quarter.
As a team, Erath made seven 3-pointers and only 3 2-pointers in the first period. The long range bombs helped Erath jump out to a 29-10 lead at the end of the first period.
The Lady Bobcats cooled off in the second period and only scored 12 points and no three pointers.
Erath led 41-14 at halftime.
EHS point guard Gabby Harrington found the three point range in the third period by nailing 2 treys. Harrington scored 12 points in the game, 8 were in the third period.
The Lady Bobcats did enough in the second half to win. NV outscored the Lady Bobcats 30-25 in the second half.
NV’s Kaylee Lopez was doing her best to try and match Erath’s three point shots. In the first half, she made two and finished the game with four treys and a team-high 18 points.
Shakyla Brailey had eight points for NV and Ariel Plowden made six. Other NV players with points were Emily Faulk (4), Gabby Bessard (4) and A’Leria Bolden (4).
Pointer scorers for EHS are Hannah Soileau (8), Alexis Lege (6) and Madison Hebert (2).
