Sylvia Cormier Hardy

September 21, 1944 ~ November 30, 2016

KAPLAN — Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Sunday, December 4, 2016 at Vincent Funeral Home - Kaplan honoring the life of Sylvia Cormier Hardy, 72 years, who died peacefully on Wednesday, November 30, 2016 at her residence after a brief battle with cancer. She will be laid to rest at Kaplan Cemetery with Deacon David Vaughn officiating the services.
Sylvia was born on September 21, 1944 in Kaplan to Dewey and Myrtle C, Cormier, both of whom preceded her in death. Sylvia and Etienne met in Kaplan and were married for 40 years. She spent her career as a secretary for Kaplan Elementary School. Sylvia enjoyed sewing, reading, watching UL, LSU, and Saints football games, and loved watching the hummingbirds outside of her window.
She is survived by her beloved husband, Etienne O. Hardy; one daughter, Laurie Belanger and her companion, Desi Touchet of Jennings, LA.; two step children, Michel Hardy and his fiancé, Terry Conway of Walker, LA, and Cheryl H. and her husband, Jason Newman of Vermilion, OH; her grandchildren, Danielle and her husband, Brent Broussard, Tyler Hardy, Trey Hardy and his wife, Leslie, Logan Luquette and his wife, Demi, Garrett Luquette, Lancelot Newman, and Seth Touchet; one great granddaughter, Aubrey Broussard; and two sisters, Beverly Ardoin of Lafayette, LA and Helen C. and her husband, Darvey Dupuis Kaplan, LA.
She was preceded in death by her brother-in-law, Joseph Ardoin.
The family would like to give a special thanks to Hospice of Acadiana (Marcie, Candice, Yvette, and Jenea') and the pallbearers (Brent, Tyler, Trey, Logan, Lancelot, and Seth).
In lieu of flowers the family request that donations be made to Hospice of Acadiana, Saint Francis Cabrini Catholic Church, or to the charity of your choice.
Sylvia C. Hardy's life will be celebrated with all visitation and services being held at Vincent Funeral Home in Kaplan. Visitation will be held on Saturday, December 3, 2016 from 9:00 AM until 8:00 PM with a rosary being recited at 6:00 PM. Visitation will resume on Sunday, December 4, 2016 at 8:00 AM until the time of services. Burial will be held at Holy Rosary Cemetery in Kaplan immediately following the services.
