Rodney James Broussard

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church on Saturday, December 28, 2013 at 12:30 pm for Rodney James Broussard, 70, who passed away on Tuesday, December 25, 2013 at 1:35 am at Lafayette General Medical Center.
Reverend Gary Schexnayder, Pastor of St. Elizabeth Seton Catholic Church will be the Celebrant of the Mass and will conduct the funeral services.
Burial will take place in St. Alphonsus Mausoleum.
Rodney, a resident of Maurice, LA was the son of the late Dudley Broussard and the former Josephine Huval.
Who can deny that Rodney was indeed a unique character. He was a part time genealogist of his community, noted author with his humorous articles and the Barbershop Tales of Bonne Nouvelle magazine, connoisseur of good food, raconteur that brought laughter to all, and friend to all he met. His very best friend however, was his dog Hobeaux. Rodney introduced us to Hobeaux some seven or eight years ago when Hobeaux appeared at his Barbershop door.
He is survived by his wife, Eva Dean Broussard his brother, Louis J. Broussard and wife Catsy, his sister, Barbara Guidry and husband David, his brothers, Daniel Broussard and wife Linda, and Larry Broussard. Also surviving are many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Delhomme Funeral Home in Maurice, LA on Friday December 27, 2013 from 4:00 pm to 9:00 pm A Rosary will be recited at 7:00 pm on Friday December 27, 2013 evening in the funeral home. Visiting hours will continue on Saturday from 8:00 am until the time of service.
Pallbearers will be Gordy Broussard, Ethan Broussard, E.J. Broussard, Zachary Trahan, Andre Broussard, Jean Broussard, Andrew Guidry, Troy Broussard and Robbie Dardeau.
