Robert G. Ditch “Rosco”

KAPLAN—Funeral services will be held Friday, December 27, 2013 at a 1 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary Roman Catholic Church honoring the life of Robert G. “Rosco” Ditch, 64, who died Monday, December 23, 2013 at Ochsner Medical Center. He will be laid to rest at Kaplan Cemetery with Reverend Cedric Sonnier officiating the services. Funeral mass readings will be done by his daughter, Vangie Davidson. Serving as pallbearers will be Rickey Davidson, Van Ditch, Brit Ditch, Joshua Ditch, Andre Boudreaux, and Craig Landry. Funeral mass readings will be done by his daughter, Vangie Davidon. Honorary pallbearers will be Kenneth Ditch Jr. and Luke Davidson.
Robert was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and brother. He was an avid football fan who loved his Tigers and Saints. He spent most of his life working on the water as a river boat captain. The two loves of his life were his wife and the Mississippi but nothing compared to love he had for his grandchildren who were the light of his eyes.
He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Margaret V. Ditch of Kaplan; one son, Van Robert Ditch of Kaplan; one daughter, Vangie and her husband, Rickey Davidson of Meaux; one sister, Doti Ditch Landry of Abbeville; two brothers, Kenneth B. Ditch Jr. of Lafayette and Brit Allen Ditch of Abbeville; three grandchildren, Luke Davidson, Camille Davidson, and Lex Davidson, all of Meaux.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Kenneth Bruno Ditch and the former Ramona Nunez; and one sister, Melanie Ditch.
The family would like to thank Ochsner Medical Center and cardiology staff.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Vincent Funeral Home - Kaplan, 300 N. Eleazar Avenue, on Thursday, December 26, 2013 from 4 p.m. until 10 p.m. with a rosary being prayed at 7 p.m.; Friday, Decemeber 27, 2013 from 8 a.m. until services.
