Patrick Raymond Hebert

August 3, 1926 ~ November 24, 2013

ABBEVILLE—Funeral services will be held Wednesday, November 27, 2013 at an 11:00 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Church honoring the life of Patrick Raymond Hebert, 87, who died peacefully Sunday, November 24, 2013 at his home surrounded by his family.
He will be laid to rest at St. Paul Cemetery with Reverend William C. Blanda officiating the services. Pallbearers will be Matthew Guidry, Eric Guidry, Andrew Hebert, Patrick Malone, Kevin Malone and Sam Malone. Honorary pallbearers will be his granddaughters.
Pat was a very loving father, grandfather and great grandfather. He loved boats, planes and the L.S.U. Fighting Tigers.
He was a veteran of the United States Navy having served our country during World War II. He had the privilege of traveling to Washington, D.C. with the Honor Air which allows war hero’s to see the World War II monument, the tomb of the Unknown Soldier and more. Patrick was a member of Knights of Columbus, American Legion, Vermilion Catholic High School Booster and Toastmasters.
He is survived by his two sons, Byron R. Hebert and his wife, Lolette T. of Abbeville and Wayne Hebert of Lafayette; six daughters, Patti Kempf of Lafayette, Jeanie Gascon and her husband, George of Plaquemine, Leslie Malone of Lafayette, Alexis Guidry and her husband, Greg of Covington, Bonnie Brasseaux and her husband, Bob of Houston and Stella Aswell and her husband Chuck of Lafayette; nineteen grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; and three sisters, Myrtle Rome of Houma, Mary Ann Holmes of Lake Charles and Gail Hebert of Houma.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Gloria Martin Hebert; parents, George Hebert and the former Stella Girouard; and brother, George Hebert, Jr.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Vincent Funeral Home - Abbeville, 209 S. St. Charles Street, on Tuesday, November 26, 2013 from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. with a rosary to be prayed at 7:00 p.m.; Wednesday, November 27, 2013 from 9:00 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. when the procession will depart for the church.
The Hebert family would like to extend a special thank you to his sitters, Debra Frederick, Geraldine Boudreaux, Danielle Broussard and Loyce Walker for the loving care and attention they gave to their father. Also to Louisiana Hospice and Palliative Care of Opelousas for the support and care they provided for their father.
In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully asked that donations be sent to Mt. Carmel Elementary, 405 Park Ave., Abbeville, LA 70510 or Vermilion Catholic High School, 425 Park Ave., Abbeville, LA 70510.
