Opal Ann Campbell Istre

RAYNE — Funeral services will be held at Gossen Funeral Home Chapel, Saturday, October 26, 2013 at 2:00 pm for Opal Ann Campbell Istre, 85, who died Wednesday, October 23, 2013.
Interment will be in St. Joseph Cemetery #2.
Surviving are two sons, Dexter Istre and Randy Istre and wife Denny; one daughter, Cynthia Cairns and husband Corky; two brothers, John “J-Bird” Campbell and Marcus Campbell; one sister, Betty Trahan and husband Tibby; one daughter-in-law, Jane Istre; eight Grandchildren, Allison Istre Lagasse and husband Manard, Stephen Istre, Nicholas Istre, Beverly Fornof and husband T.J., Jennifer Kemzuro and husband Erick, John Cairns, Henry Istre and wife Erika, and Melvin P. Istre III and companion Shenna; two step grandchildren, Raejean Walston and husband John, and Ellen Brown;10 Great Grandchildren; and 4 Step Great Grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Melvin P. Istre Sr.; one son, Melvin P. Istre Jr.; brother, T.C. Campbell; and sister, Nedra Arsement.
She was born August 11, 1928 in Cow Island, LA, daughter of Ezra Campbell and Maddie Nunez Campbell.
Opal lived in Port Sulphur, La for 40 years with her family and moved to Lafayette after retirement.
Friends will be received Saturday, October 26, 2013 from 10:00 am until 2:00 pm at Gossen Funeral Home, Inc., Rayne, LA.
A Rosary will be recited at 11:00 am Saturday, October 26, 2013.
The family wishes to thank the staff at Maison de Lafayette and Heart of Hospice.
