Leslie James Bessard

ABBEVILLE — Funeral Services for Leslie "BB" James Bessard, (66) will be held, 11:00 AM, Saturday, April 18, 2015 at Pleasant Green Baptist Church, 821 1.J. Joiner Street. Pastor Nathan Stevens, Officiating.
Interment will follow in Pleasant Green Baptist Church Cemetery.
Visitation will begin at 9:00 AM at the church until time of services.
Leslie was born October 29, 1948 to the union of Claude Bessard, Sr. and the late Gracie Dozier Bessard in Abbeville, LA where he was a lifelong resident.
After graduating from high school he went on to complete Truck Driving School. He later worked offshore as a Derick Operator until his health prevented him from doing so. In his early adult years he married the former Barbara Brailey whom preceded him in death. They were blessed with four children.
In addition to his mother and wife he was preceded in death, he was also preceded in death by a sister, Ursala Bessard. Leslie peacefully passed away on Monday, April 13, 2015 at Camelot of Broussard following a lengthy illness.
Leslie's memory will always be cherished by his four children, Patrina (Verdna) Bessard - Rogers of New Iberia, LA; Catrina Bessard, Eric Bessard and Cordell Bessard, all of Abbeville, LA; his father, Claude Bessard, Sr. of Abbeville, LA; his six siblings, Claude(Patti) Bessard , Jr., Rodney (Rita) Dozier, Connie Grogan, Lona Dozier, Angela Woods and Mary Ellen (Clavern) Adams, all of Abbeville, LA and Sheral Bessard of Lafayette, LA; his mother-in-law, Mildred Brailey of Abbeville, LA; eight grandchildren and host of aunts uncles other relatives and friends.
